Veni Daan is a sacred ritual performed at the holy Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the invisible Saraswati rivers in Prayagraj. In this ritual, women offer a lock of their hair (veni) to the holy waters as an act of devotion, sacrifice, and gratitude. It symbolizes surrendering one’s ego and worldly attachments to the divine and seeking blessings for family well-being, marital happiness, and spiritual growth.

Traditionally, Veni Daan is performed by married women praying for the long life and prosperity of their husbands, and by unmarried girls seeking a suitable life partner. The ritual is often accompanied by Vedic mantras, sankalp, and offerings such as flowers, kumkum, and sacred threads. The hair offered is immersed in the Sangam, representing the release of past burdens and negative karmic influences.
