Vahan Pooja: Meaning and Significance

It is conducted before starting to use a new vehicle or to ensure ongoing protection and auspiciousness for an existing vehicle.     • Kalash Sthapana: Establish a kalash (pot filled with water) near the vehicle, symbolizing divine presence.
  4. Sankalp (Resolution):

    • Taking the Sankalp: The owner or driver of the vehicle takes a vow (sankalp) stating the purpose of the Vahan Pooja, seeking blessings for safety, protection, and auspiciousness during travels.
  5. Main Pooja:

    • Chanting Mantras: Recite mantras dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Lord Vishnu, or specific deities associated with protection and travel safety.
    • Offering Items: Offer flowers, rice, turmeric, kumkum (vermilion), incense sticks, camphor, and fruits to the deities while chanting the mantras.
  6. Aarti and Offerings:

    • Arati: Light incense sticks and camphor, and wave them in front of the vehicle in a circular motion (arati).
    • Offer Prayers: Offer prayers and seek blessings from the deities for protection and auspiciousness.
  7. Blessings and Conclusion:

    • Conclusion: Conclude the pooja by offering a coconut and breaking it near the vehicle as a symbolic gesture of breaking obstacles and ensuring a smooth journey.
